I’ve been taking an eight week online photography workshop with Otto Von Munchow, of In Flow; our most challenging assignment has been a photo essay project to create and develop. We have one more week of “class” and then we will unleash our project. I’ve taken on a subject matter that has weighed upon my heart for several months now, and it is has been so good to use photography as a healing process.

Hi Angeline, thanks for finding and following me…I shall follow yound see your progression after Otto’s course! I’m really enjoying it, but getting frustrated with not being able to come up with some things I wanted!

My pleasure, Sue. I enjoyed looking through your blog and photos. I can relate to the photo essay project! I need to sit down and spend a little more time with it this weekend. I too am enjoying Otto’s course, it has helped me quite a bit!

Hmmm…I should spend more time, but haven’t got much energy right now. Hopefully I’ll have some images for week 8, but I doubt I’ll up my game!

It has been very good for me to push myself, and to learn a lot. I’m hoping it won’t take me too long to pull it all together.

This sounds like a good way to turn a tough experience into something positive. Is the photo above from work after the fire?

Thanks. Yes, the photo was taken just a couple of days ago; they’ve just taken most of the roof off and they’re removing wiring, etc. Once I got going on this project, I was able to really let go. (This was my daughter’s house).

A tough process, and one I went through with my brother. Looking back I wish I had some photos of the hard, blackened days to compare to the beautiful rebuilt home he enjoyed a few years later but at the time we didn’t think we would want them.

I look at the photos I’ve taken so far, and still just can’t believe it. It’s a bit of a story that I will tell part of in the essay. Thanks so much for telling me a little of your experience!

It has been a fun challenge, and pushed me out of automatic setting on my camera more often (I’m still practicing on that). The essay will be a compilation of the photos I’ve taken on my chosen subject. Thanks, Amy.

Thanks, Christine. I as yet have not put the words to the photos, nor decided on the final photos to include; it’s a work in progress.
