The Project: A Preview

roofworker

I’ve been taking an eight week online photography workshop with Otto Von Munchow, of In Flow; our most challenging assignment has been a photo essay project to create and develop.  We have one more week of “class” and then we will unleash our project. I’ve taken on a subject matter that has weighed upon my heart for several months now, and it is has been so good to use photography as a healing process.

  5. This sounds like a good way to turn a tough experience into something positive. Is the photo above from work after the fire?

Thanks. Yes, the photo was taken just a couple of days ago; they’ve just taken most of the roof off and they’re removing wiring, etc. Once I got going on this project, I was able to really let go. (This was my daughter’s house).

      • A tough process, and one I went through with my brother. Looking back I wish I had some photos of the hard, blackened days to compare to the beautiful rebuilt home he enjoyed a few years later but at the time we didn’t think we would want them.

I look at the photos I’ve taken so far, and still just can’t believe it. It’s a bit of a story that I will tell part of in the essay. Thanks so much for telling me a little of your experience!

It has been a fun challenge, and pushed me out of automatic setting on my camera more often (I’m still practicing on that). The essay will be a compilation of the photos I’ve taken on my chosen subject. Thanks, Amy.

That’s wonderful! I didn’t know he did an online class, Angeline, though I’ve seen his workshops advertised. You must have enjoyed it. I look forward to the results. 🙂
