On the ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito. A moment stolen as the woman looked away, and the little girl looked at me. And what the little boy was looking at…

I love the soft feel of the photo, Angeline. Did you do that with editing or did the picture just turn out that way. I hardly ever take photos of people because I think they may not like it. This is so atmospheric.

Thanks, Janet. I did very little editing on it, converting it to black and white and a little change of light using PicMonkey.
I am really working on more people photos, and finding that I like it very much. Working up the courage to just go up and ask if ok to take their photo, or, as in this case, wait until I can sneak one.

aloha Angeline. i particularly like the first shot. that is a classic of our time (imo). the 3 people each focusing on their own and different world views from the same spot. very much a condition of the human state of now. and in a great range of darks and lights—with the only focus that can be clearly intuited—that of the little girl looking into a camera. aloha.

Aloha, Rick. That is the sense I get from this scene also; each member of the family seems to be in their own little world of thought…and the little one, well, she is the curious one. Thanks for stopping in to comment.

Did you blur the child’s image on purpose? As you said – I’m always afraid to photograph children. Very pretty image.

Thanks, Dawn. No, the child came out kind of blurred because the boat was moving and I moved my hands when I snapped the photo. I don’t take a child’s photo unless asking the adult, or in stealth mode.

The fading light mistiness certainly adds to the atmosphere, and what a cute little girl!

Isn’t she a little cutie? I had made eye contact with her as we sat down across the aisle, smiling and making faces at her to keep her interested in hopes that I could snap a quick one. I always hesitate with kids, thinking their parent might not like a photo being taken. The opportunity presented itself…I wasn’t going to pass it up.

There is a surreal quality to the capture, as though they were living a dream. Nicely done. Happy Photo Challenge.

Thanks, Sally. I have that feeling as well as I look at the photo. And I wonder what their story is.
