This isn’t quite how I expected to come back to my blog, “it’s always something”, as the wise woman, Gilda Radner once said.
I moved about five miles down the road from the apartment where I had been living, to move in to a newly purchased home to live in a downstairs in-law apartment with my oldest son and his family who occupy the upstairs. The new “apartment” is larger than the old apartment, more open with incredibly wonderful space. So, in short, I am more than happy. The only thing my space did not have was a kitchen, which is almost completed now; more on that later.
I now have only a 15 minute walk to the water, or a two minute car drive to various access points for photo shoots; that same water that I’ve posted photos of in the past from my old place, the Carquinez Strait.
We moved in to our new abode a bit more than a month ago, during the pandemic which has been tricky what with movers and masks, and deliveries of things and masks, and anything you can think of that involves a move….with masks.
And now, we are not so very far away from one of the incredibly awful wildfires that rage through California. The photo above of the sunset and Strait was taken the evening before the fires began.Β Our sky now, as shown in this morning’s sunrise in the lead photo, is, and has been gray with smoke; air quality is extremely bad. We are now incarcerated in our home due to both pandemic and smoke. But we have a home, and my prayers are for those who have lost everything to the fires. In these days of being home bound, I try to stay busy making art and working on editing photos, keeping beauty uppermost in my mind as much as I can.
I’m glad to be back here on WordPress, with all of you. I’m not sure where my posts will go, or how they’ll look.Β I’ll be just as surprised as you.
Great piece. I hope all are safe.

Thanks, Geri. We are all fine, and the fires are now confined. Clean air and blue skies will never be taken for granted.

Thanks Su. Being with family is a wonderful feeling. The closest fires is now about 35% contained.

Welcome back! It seems everything is being thrown at us this year. It has to all balance out sometime. Good to know you’re safe, and with family, even if you can’t go out.

Life is full of strange twists and turns. I hope you’re enjoying your new prison. At least you’re with family now.

The new prison is quite satisfactory! And being with family living right up the stairs is a joy.

One of the main reasons you are a pleasure to follow is the underlying good feeling that is always present, thankfully, regardless of all else that may be taking place. Looking forward to seeing more new adventures.
