The Sunday Traveler lives in a wonderful little town that has been around since 1847. Antique shops abound, and I spent a little time wandering through one of the shops yesterday. It was so much fun to admire, and wonder about the stories each piece had in its past.
Who wrote the stories, who spoke the words. Benicia is a town full of artists of all kinds. An incredibly creative town that has had art in its history from way back, and I know that on a personal level from meeting the locals with family histories that go back to the day.
Who was the woman who might have used this parasol?
There were parties I think
And weddings
And a lot of punch that made you see sheep coming out of the punch bowl…then coffee or tea to sober you up.
Benicia was a working town, but as everywhere, there were the monied.
There was always a little room for fun
And the times moved on
Rugs were rolled up and the community moves on
I so enjoyed this little wander around your little antique store. Some gorgeous things! That umbrella for instance!
