The Sunday Traveler~A Saturday Roadtrip

There is this wonderful highway in California, Highway 1, a north-south state highway that traverses most of the Pacific coastline. The Sunday Traveler is lucky enough to live near part of the northern section of this highway and is taking frequent road trips along its path of late. Yesterday was one of those wonderful days, spending it exploring along the Sonoma Coast to beaches and little towns not seen before. Our first stop was Goat Rock Beach

A long stretch of beach with boulders out in the water, and a beach strewn with driftwood and rocks.

The beach also bought a few little pieces of surprise art to my eyes

We spent a couple of hours here, just walking the beach as far as the tide allowed, and then headed on down the highway to explore Duncan Mills, just down the road. A cafe, and little shops that we passed on to walk down the lane to one side of this little block of shops that appealed to us, and was much more satisfying to the photographer is us

Heading out again we pulled in at a couple more beaches, Schoolhouse Beach and Arched Rock Beach

We moved on from here towards home, heading first to our favorite spot on Tomales Bay for a very late lunch of oysters in the town of Marshall. What better way to end our day

The sun was lowering in the sky, almost sunset, and time to get home.
