Under the pier at Hanalei, north shore of Kauai, Hawaii. Photo taken last month. Devastating floods over the last week, and especially hard hit yesterday was Hanalei. The pier has been demolished by the floodwaters. Sending thoughts of aloha to the people of Kauai.

It’s a fabulous photo. I can’t believe it was demolished by floodwaters. It looks so solid!

It did seem solid while I was under there. I can’t imagine the force of water to have done that.

That’s one heckuva pier and Mother Nature is certainly a force to be reckoned with. A beautiful tribute and the memory of a moment that won’t be repeated for a long time to come.

Still incomprehensible to see the photo I’ve seen on a newsfeed of the demolished pier.

Thanks, Felipe. It was interesting crouching under there and taking photos.
