Joining in the thoughts posed by this challenge guide, at Lens and Pens by Sally, with today’s photos in black and white. Sally shares her thoughts “The forces of nature are under systematic attack. This assault exhausts me, because it is senseless to be alive in 2017 and dismiss the implications of human intervention in climate change and global warming”; also sharing the thought that sometimes we are remiss in sharing our photographic vision of nature in not revealing our inner narrative.
Without too many words, this photo, taken from a moving car a couple of years ago, during our years long drought, the hillside barren and dry where this barn sits, has always brought thoughts to my mind about where our country is headed in ignoring global warming. The painted American flag on the side of the barn, sun streaming down acting as spotlight, just puts those thoughts front and center in my mind.

Thank you for your words, Otto. This is a first, and I’m proud of it. To have a photo of mine, especially this one, called disturbing is a first, and quite a compliment, really. That it might start people to think would be amazing.

There is so much dark drama in the absolute stillness of this image, Angeline. Fascinating then, that you took it on the move. It asks so many questions too – about what we humans think we are up to exactly. My own impulse is to rush out and plant something 🙂

The phone does pretty well for photos from a moving car I think. Great thought about the stillness the scene portrays. Sometimes I think some don’t seem to care about what they are doing to this planet, it all boiling down to greed.
This fall our drought has come to an end; we’ve had seemingly unending rain. There are still storms coming in, when usually the rainy season should be over; that’s another unusual thing and points to

Angeline, it’s certainly a powerful image that evokes the feelings that we have about our planet’s future. Your interpretation is apt and does symbolize the problems we face. As important how can we halt the assault by the current administration? Resist, act, resist, act and each do our own part. Happy Photo Challenge.

Lovely post Angeline. My initial reaction to the shot (admittedly it’s early morning and I haven’t had coffee yet) was that it reminded me of images of the moon landings. But in a way that is almost appropriate; we are in danger of rendering our home as barren and unlivable as the moon. 🙂
