Weekly Photo Challenge ~ Walls of Ek Balam

ekbalamwalls

The entrance walls to Ek Balam, ancient Mayan ruins in Yucatan. What do these walls reveal about the peoples that lived here? I’ve never felt such a pull as here. It was good that we could touch these walls, they weren’t roped off. They were accessible to me who didn’t mean to, but found myself in search of my ancestors. And found them here. I could feel it. Walls can block us off, or they can invite us through.

So exciting to hear the call of the wall as opposed to it being an obstacle.
