Our storm doors have been opened. Northern California began having incredible rain last week, that is continuing this week. The drought status in this corner of California is said to still be in good standing, but our streams, lakes, and reservoirs are filling nicely, removing a little of the dreary outlook for our water supplies. With just a few days of good drenching rain, the hills have come alive, leaving their golden hue for a lovely green. I took this photo last Friday on the Altamont Pass, a major throughway between San Francisco’s East Bay and the Central Valley.

Yes, Patti, at last we’ve had rain! And it’s continued to come. We’re finally having a bit of a break for the next week they say. Everything is just incredibly green. I think everyone is in awe of this color we haven’t seen around here in so long.

It’s definitely wonderful to see and feel the rain…but I don’t have to commute to work. I feel a bit sorry for the commuters. I can’t believe any of us are complaining, but so much all at once can be a bit much. We’ll all feel much better when water restrictions are removed. And I know the skiers in the Sierra are jubilant with the wonderful snow pack for skiing. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas.

I felt the mood ….but I suppose you also need to be pleased that the water table is getting topped up. We all need rain….just wish it would also come at night and not spoil the days!

I was just there visiting Berkeley, Stinson Beach and Sonoma over Thanksgiving and the weather was so beautiful. Here are my pictures from Point Reyes http://ravenscourtgardens.com/2014/12/08/a-clear-day-at-point-reyes-national-seashore/ The last day the first storm started rolling in as we left our friends home in Santa Rosa. And you have had some big storms ever since. Happy to hear the lakes and rivers are filling up. I am sure the flora and fauna are rejoicing!

That is what is getting me through this patch of storms. I don’t mind a moderate amount over time. It’s the deluge-in-a-day that puts me on edge.
