The weather, and nature, had some wild swings this weekend in the Sierra Nevada. Sunday had been a day of rain at the elevation we were at, and as we left yesterday morning wending our way up and then down the mountain, we were greeted by clouds and glimpses of snow. The clouds and fog were something of glory. The light pushing through in spots was almost other worldly.
The clouds thickened before our descent as we passed areas that had had some good snow the day before
And then, we were back in the “low lands”, where nature was still grooving on fall.

That first photograph is breathtaking. I have not been to California yet but you have inspired me to visit sooner rather than later!

Thanks, Teresa. I wish we could have pulled over to just sit and stare at this scene awhile. California, and this area of the Sierras is absolutely beautiful, which is over on the Nevada side.

That, for me, is the wonder of California. In no more than a couple hour drive, you can see such a wide variety of weather and climates. Your photos depict it very well, Angeline.

Thanks, John. Yes indeed! Drive an hour or two this way or that and you can be in a different micro climate completely.

Thanks, Colline. They almost looked like artificial trees with artificial snow placed on the branches in dollops. So pretty!

That first photo was the first scene as we got out of town (Reno), and rounded a curve onto the highway. I couldn’t believe the beauty.

Thanks, Sally. Nature in the Sierra is an ode to beauty, tranquility, and definitely omnipotence. It is a Walden Pond to me.
