I’ve always loved coleus plants. My first memories of them are from Mexico when I was a kid. The design on the leaves of this one, in black and white, reminds me of some Maya drawings I saw in Yucatan at some of the ruins.

A lovely photo that had my imagination running after you mentioned how the leaf design reminded you of Maya drawings…this photo reminds me of Bushman drawings…. wonder if there is a link between the two..??

The choice of monochrome helps to brings a simple capture into a more dramatic rendering. It becomes strong in its contrast and shading. I like the way it goes from dark to light tones. Nicely done. Happy Photo Challenge.

The pattern on the large leaf is amazing. I also like the interplay of light and shadow at the base of the pot. Nice job! –Patti

Thanks, Patti. That large leaf really called to me, and the light at that exact time each day has my eyes glued to that plant to watch the play of shadow.

Hi, M. Yes, it is one of the very few plants I brought with me from the old place. It seems to love its new place by a large sliding door.
