I’m not sure exactly why, but I thought of Marie Antoinette after passing by the Palace Hotel’s Garden Court restaurant buffet prior to exiting onto the San Francisco streets and seeing the homeless and hungry out there. I’m sure I breached etiquette when I snapped a few photos in there.

It does, Shimon. It’s right downtown, well known, and gets a lot of conferences and meetings there. I’ll have to go check out the cost of the rooms there on their website, this just made me curious. I’m sure they are not inexpensive. P.S. I just checked, $389/night

Hard to not feel the juxtaposition of those extremes. The gulf between have and have not grows each year. Love the bottom shot with the reflected ceiling. Very nice.

All I can see in photo is first card that says French Toast, I can’t remember really reading any of the others, so guess mostly breakfast stuff.

Without getting too heavy…I find in the U.K. that more and more people are relying on Food Banks to get by on. They are not down and outs but folk working hard to earn a living and care for their families…in many cases people who have worked hard all there lives. The you add those that are even less fortunate. We will not mention the top cats who see earnings and wealth rising on the backs of those hard workers….. you do have to wonder where we are heading. Now back to the image…..nice one, well spotted, a geometric pattern of shapes and light is always nice.

In the work I did with the homeless and indigent just recently before I retired, it was becoming harder and harder to find food sources for them; the food banks were all low on donations, or completely out of food. And the county I did this work for in Southern California is one of the richest in California! A lot of my patients did have jobs, but low paying ones and they had a hard time making ends meet. I now do some volunteer work through a local church putting on a dinner in the park for the homeless here in the town where I live. It breaks my heart. These kinds of things just should not be.

Thanks, John. When I saw this long table of silver bowls, I saw it in black and white. I think all cities and towns these days have this huge chasm that doesn’t seem to get better at all.
