Phoneography Challenge: Macro in Red

macrotomato

Slicing a tomato for dinner preparations the other night made me stop to look at the piece just cut. It reminded me of a cross-section of a neuron with dendrites branching out (the nurse in me will always make me see some things just a bit differently).

The Phoneography Challenge is sponsored by Lens and Pens by Sally, who always has great information on phoneography each Monday morning.

I’d forgotten that you worked in medicine, Angeline. Your talk of a neuron with dendrites seemed so specific. It caught me off-guard. Great shot, though, Now I’m off to google what the heck you were talking about. 🙂

  3. It could also be a galaxy exploding! I’m influenced by the new Cosmos perhaps 😉 No matter what it captures the imagination! Beautiful shot, Angeline…

  5. That is quite an amazing photo. I looks like a explosion in outer space in a different dimension or galaxy. Quite some intense energy in the image!

Did you used to be an astronaut? Just kidding, Otto…if I could have added some smoke around the edges it would be perfect for the explosion theory. Red always does seem to add a certain energy to photos, and in macro even more.

Nature has so many repeating patterns in it, it’s phenomenal. Whenever I need inspiration for an art piece, I head to my old biology book and it only takes a few flips of the pages to inspire me. This is a great thing to use for your macro. Happy Monday!

I could not believe it when I looked down at that sliced off part of the tomato…there was no question in my mind of what it looked like. Yes, so many repeating patterns. Thanks, Meghan. Happy Monday to you too, have a great week.

  11. Thanks for letting me take a closer look at the tomato, Angeline. I love seeing things that are ordinarily seen from afar or not even noticed, up close.

  13. Macro does work so well with a single subject. Your slice is made into an abstract other-worldy being. Happy Phoneography Challenge.
