The fundamentals of cooking in our kitchen include a lot of garlic. As I placed a bulb of Allium Sativum back into the molcajete (a Mexican mortar and pestle) where I keep it by the stove, I saw another side of its beauty. The papery skin torn in layers around the root cluster begged for a photo, as did the other side
Nothing in this house escapes a phoneography opportunity. Thanks to Lens and Pens by Sally for today’s challenge.
Wonderful! I love garlic, but have never looked at it this closely before 🙂

Thanks! People must think I’m nuts in the grocery store as I look through all the piles of garlic to select just the right one; I love their shapes. There is a little town near here, Gilroy, that grows a lot of garlic, and they have a garlic festival every year…I must go this year 🙂

Funny how these subjects are often overlooked, yet they are quite interesting. You’ll find my entry here:

My eyes are always roving, visualizing subjects in macro, and then taking a photo to see if what I saw in my mind works on the screen. Macro is an interesting segment of photography. Thanks for stopping in, and I’m off to see your entry now.

Oh garlic! We have a love and hate relationship! LOL #1’s juxtaposition of light and dark and the different textures is interesting. 🙂

Thank you! I think I get your drift on the love/hate relationship with garlic 🙂
I don’t know why, but our garlic use has increased in the last year or so…I’m glad both my husband and I like it.

I like the second one as well. The surface of the cloves looks satiny… the color treatment really works well.

Thanks, Meghan! I did a little bit of processing with Snapseed, but pretty much the color is how it came out of the camera.

I was wondering about that as I wrote the word treatment. I thought maybe it was just the natural color… it is lovely.

I didn’t see the actual loveliness until I saw the photo on the screen.
