Pineapple Express

The storm doors seem to have opened.  Northern California is getting the rain that is more usual for this time of year, storms coming in off the Pacific from the Hawaiian Islands; it’s called the Pineapple Express.

The wind blowing through the trees, plants and grasses seems to be singing an ode of joy and gratitude to the Universe.

Every creature seems to rejoice

I would like to introduce you to a blogger I’ve recently found here on WordPress, he’s a rancher in the Sierra Nevada foothills, and writes incredibly beautiful poems on his blog, drycrikjournal.  John’s poem today says it all for those of us living in this beautiful area of Northern California.

So wonderful to see those raindrops! And – those photos are so spectacular, so breathtaking, I can’t seem to find the words! You are so talented!!! Thanks for this refreshing post – made my day! 🙂

Thanks so much, Angeline, for your kind words…like your raindrops clinging to succulents, relief to feel so rich into the future.

so thrilled for you Californians! We are very crispy dry here suddenly, hot winds, no rain, high temperatures, big bushfires in Victoria …. we need rain too 🙂

  4. I live partly in the rainy city of Bergen, Norway, but the last month there has hardly been any precipitation. It really seems like the climate is quite messed up…

  5. Imelda says:

I am glad rain came in your part of the country at last. I hope there’d be more to reverse the effects of drought.

  6. Patti Kuche says:

Such good news Angeline and so hope you get the rain you need!

So glad SF is getting rain 🙂 We can use any “express” here… Love these beautiful photos.

  9. Beautiful photos.
    Happy for all you Californians!

  10. We’re having some drizzly, cloudy days, but nothing in the rain gauge since I arrived, five months ago. For the ‘natives’ here, it hasn’t rained in two years … you can imagine the scenes in the countryside. So I know what you’re talking about. So glad for you. I don’t suppose the Pineapple Express usually visits the City of Angels, but lets hope they get some further south 🙂

We’re overjoyed at the rain we’ve gotten, but we’re told it’s very far from what is needed to end the drought….but I’m happy for every little drop. I think it’s been enough to start greening things up a little. More rain coming next week, so I’m hoping this keeps going to at least save crops and cattle. I don’t know if the Express goes in to Southern Cal or not. Last I saw, they were still dry.

  11. It’s been so nice laying in bed at night hearing the rain pounding on the roof! It’s about time! We need a lot more of it!

  12. Madhu says:
