Photo taken last month in a field down the street with my Samsung, and edited in Snapseed. A weed? I don’t think so…not how I see it.
Thanks to Sally, at Lens and Pens, for starting off the week with some great phoneography for everyone.

Beautiful! And amazing processing Angeline! I am partial to this weed 🙂

Terrific effect on this one. Not that I know anything about photography – but, to paraphrase – I know what I like.

We are so quick to see the weed that the beauty escapes us. A wonderful photo and lesson, Angeline.

Thank you, John. You know, this photography thing for me is relatively a new passion, and I am seeing things now that I would have normally walked right past. My ongoing lesson is that there is beauty in everything.

I love the effect you created here, I always think dandelions look amazing close up & I might be a big kid but they’re also fun to blow! LOL x

Thanks, Amanda. I should have plucked this one and blown on it 🙂

One man’s weed is another man’s flower and the reverse as well. I wouldn’t mind dandelions if the plant part didn’t crowd out all the grass; I like the flowers. 🙂

They are little usurpers of grass, aren’t they? I guess that’s why everyone sees them more as weeds and try to snuff them out.

I like the color that it has. (Would you like to ask MM any questions in the interview?)

Thank you! Let me think on some questions for MM if it’s not too late. I’m running way behind here.

My feeling is that just because some plants are a nuisance in our lawns doesn’t make them weeds! Then they’re turned into art, which just emphasises their beauty. 🙂

Exactly! They just have to put their best face on 🙂

I always love their bright sunny flowers in spring, and yes, the etherial beauty of those dandelions a bit later on. I can’t remember the details, but Celi said they were vital for the bees early for Spring – that sold me on giving then a place in the lawn 🙂

I think a lot more than we realize is vital for bees and others in nature to coexist. I had been thinking it would be neat to have a whole yard full of dandelions.

Do you still have fields all around or are the houses encroaching into the farms? Mum and Dad’s house used to back onto a farm and it was like having their own field (though Ma used to complain about the wild encroaching … ). 🙂

There are still fields all around. The little development we live in is the last housing, and then it’s fields across the street and down the two lane road that passes our development. I used to whine about living in the sticks, but I’ve grown to love the beauty.

Is that what they call dandelion in English?

Yes, this indeed is a Dandelion up close and personal.

It’s surely art the way you’ve treated it! Looks so evocative. So many weeds have so much beauty to offer, it’s a shame they’re just viewed as “weeds.” Nice that you’re dispelling the myth.

What a great choice for processing–the image keeps me coming back to see more. often people call plants weeds that are truly wildflower. Happy Phoneography Monday.

Thanks, Sally. I’ve seen several discussions on the dandelion as wildflower vs weed. In California so many try to obliterat this poor plant..at least from their lawns. When you really stop to look at one up close it is a work of art, which I hope I was able to convey here.
