Phoneography Challenge: Sculpture In The Round

marriottroundoakland

We stayed at the Oakland (California) Marriott over the weekend. This wrought iron sculpture in their restaurant  has always fascinated me.

*Travel tip: the Oakland Marriott is much less expensive than those in San Francisco, and a BART station is right across the street for a quick ten minute ride into the City. Hotel parking is also less expensive. (I have not been reimbursed for this little advertisement for Marriott Oakland).

Photo taken with my Samsung Galaxy.

Easy to understand how that sculpture caught your attention. It’s fascinating, Angeline, and your photo captured it — and the light — very well.

Happy Monday Carol. That hotel is so very comfortable, we love it there. And with Bart just across the street, it’s perfect. I’m glad the strike was over too! We took our grandson in to the City to see the Exploratorium and our plan B was taking the ferry over if Bart was still on strike.

  18. Angeline, the sculpture itself is interesting and attractive but the light you caught, with the golden colors, goes so well with it and makes the picture even more attractive.

Thanks Sally. We’ve eaten in that restaurant several times now over the years, and I’ve taken other photos of this sculpture that I was never happy with. This one just worked for me. Glad you like it. Hope you’ve had a great day.
