Now see the beautiful sunset ore the ocean blue
Fiery colors due abound of poems there are a few
I wish that I could write one, about that perfect hue
But nothing rhymes with Orange
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Orchards stretch for miles, they never seem to stop
There nectar baring fruit is one that’s hard to top
A fruit that justifies a sonnet, but might as well be rock
But nothing rhymes with Orange

How do I describe a basketball?
Or the bricks within my garden wall
The autumn leaves before they fall
But nothing rhymes with Orange

So the hardest line you’ll ever write
One to keep you up all night
So please tell if you might
What the hell rhymes with ORANGE?

To get back to the subject at hand and leaving the orangutans alone for a while, I think melange is an almost acceptable rhyme for orange. Then again, there’s that Los Angeles Councilman Tom LeBonge, altho to my way of thinking LeBonge rhymes better with Crenshaw melon.

It is a true rarity to see “natural” oranges here. By the time they get this far North, any with even the smallest of blemishes have been weeded out. Seeing these remind me of those I’ve seen during trips to Florida. The sight of that first orange grove was mesmerizing.
These were wonderful, Angeline. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, John. It’s a shame that the majority of these orange trees I’ve photographed are on the inside of a fence in an empty field, so the oranges fall to the ground and stay there to return to the earth. Our grocers here at the source of all of our fruit and vegetables, have weeded out any “unsightly” items.
