Weekly Photo Challenge: One Shot, Two Ways

Gate and Rope

Gate and Rope

This week’s photo challenge asks us to show one shot from two different aspects, using landscape and portrait. One thing I learned here today is that I do not use a lot of the portrait orientation for photography, I seem to have gotten stuck in landscape somewhere along the line.  I’ve got more work to do here.

An awakening for me.

Oh, to live in a climate where wrought iron birds of paradise adorn gates! Nice shots, Angeline, and perfect for the challenge.

A very nice solution to the challenge. I really like your vertical version, gives more food to thoughts. Generally I think a lot of people get stuck in the landscape orientation – included myself…

    very different perspectives 🙂

    I like the first,
    the contrast:
    horizontal ropes
    vs. vertical greens …

Thanks, Frizz. That’s exactly what I was concentrating on in the shot, the ropes and hooks they’re attached to. In retrospect, I now would have zoomed in on those points. Guess I’ll just have to fly back to Hawaii for more photos.

I think you have done a great job with this challenge Angeline. And you are probably not alone focussing on landscape photography.

Two very different perspectives! Love the tones in both!

You did great with this one though! Love the tropical view through the bird of paradise gate 🙂

This is very interesting, Angeline 🙂 The portrait one reveals more and I prefer it to your landscape 🙂

    • Angeline M says:

Thanks, Paula. You know, in looking through my photos that have one shot both landscape and portrait, I am seeing this very thing, and will have to consider using portrait more often.

  13. I prefer the bottom shot because it contains more of the background and creates a sense of depth in the photo.

I noticed the same thing Angeline! Almost all my shots are landscape! Funny isn’t it. I still need to put together my post but I’m glad I’m not the only one who uses more landscape shots. I guess I prefer it that way! 🙂
