A day in the City that can never be anything less than blissful, was wonderful this past Friday, but to actually meet up with The Blissful Adventurer put the day over the top. Michael was gracious enough to spare a couple of hours with me to give me some pointers in iPhoneography.
Do you ever have days that are extraordinary? Friday was just that, leaving Michael’s office for a walk down Market Street to the Embarcadero; this was my favorite haunt when I worked in San Francisco several years ago.
The afternoon unfolded with a prayer on Market with a Buddhist monk, or someone seeming to be one. I made eye contact with him, and it was like a magnet; before I knew it I was giving him a donation for a bracelet of wooden beads, and he grasped my hands in his as he chanted a prayer “for peace”. Never in my years in the City did I think I would be praying with a monk on Market Street. It seriously was a spiritual moment as he cupped my hands in his and prayed. It was as if everything around me faded into a haze, and it was only the monk and I there on that street.
I made my way down to the Ferry Building for lunch, and will pick up the story from there in my next post. Until then.
Wow, interesting story. Great no matter what.

You just never know when Life is going to surprise you. Imagine if you had continued to walk past the monk without stopping.

So true, life can definitely be full of surprises! That’s something for me to ponder, if I had not stopped to connect with the monk; that made the day so special, different, and added another warm memory of the City.
