Spring Break

IMG_4321

Spring break in my backyard. I call the birds in the pool  birdbath the rowdies.  A group of them hop around the edge and then jump in and splash about like kids. I can always tell when they’ve been in for a swim, even if I don’t see them in action; there is water all over the sidewalk and fence. At the end of the day, what’s left of the water is a mess, full of feathers and dirt. I wash out the bath every evening, and fill er up; and listen to the birds in the trees above me, twittering back and forth, the mama birds telling the kids to settle down, story time coming up soon, as soon as the dishes are done. They twitter some more, and  I could almost believe that they are watching me, and are saying “thank you, lady, for the fresh water”. I always look up and say “you’re welcome”.

Its great fun to watch them having a bath, I also used to feel better after filling the bird bath up. Before I moved here (recently) I also had a pond with a shallow end, they loved this too, it was great. I really miss this now! Nice post Angeline, I enjoyed it. Regards James 🙂

Thanks James. If you noticed, the bird bath is slanted, I was going to straighten it out but then notice that some birds prefer to work their way in via the shallow end. It looks wonky, but I’ve left it as is.

  8. This is just gorgeous, I love it! I haven’t got a birdbath for the birds in my yard but they do like to sun themselves in the sandy soil. Lovely thank you! 🙂

Great series of shots! Our birds are still in survival mode but that won’t last forever. Thanks for the hint of Spring.
