I’m not sure how FrizzText managed to start his alphabet challenge with the first letter of the alphabet at the first of the year, but let’s just chalk it up to synchronicity.
I’ve shown a different pose of my angel in the past, but I rather like the shadows here, and I promised to tell her story.
Visiting a friend in San Antonio, Texas many years ago, I happened upon this angel in a shop. I was traveling by plane, so knew I would have to have the angel boxed and shipped to my home in California; she is a heavy clay statue. I got the angel from the shop to my friend’s home, no problem, but in getting out of the car at UPS with the angel in my arms, I knocked one wing on the car door, and the wing was clipped right off, a clean cut. Ouch. Once home I received the box with the angel plus the detached wing. I sat and contemplated what type of product to use to glue the wing back on; and as I sat and contemplated, I realized that the angel would only fit in the corner I wanted her to be in, if she didn’t have that right wing attached. Problem solved. The right wing went into a closet for future reference. As the years have gone by, and as we’ve moved from house to house, the angel has found her perfect place; a place where she fits only because she does not have a right wing.
So happy to meet a sister nurse. 🙂

The good things, I hope, and not the mishaps, hehe, or she wouldn’t be your friend for that long. 😀

Thank you! I’m glad you think so too. I just read about your blog, so I guess I could put my angel at the doorway of a church and people could put money in the slot where her wing broke off.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

I really like this photo – the ‘interruption’ of the subject was a good idea and takes the picture beyond mere depiction (in my eyes).

Truly a lovely angel story. I love that your angel fits in a perfect spot where ever you move. Sweet, and somewhat bittersweet too.
Wishing you all the best in 2013. 🙂
