The Letter W

The letter W stands for W_ _ . WordPress seems to be having some problems for some of us with uploading photos. You can peruse the WP Forum to read the rants, wailings and gnashing of teeth, mine included.

🙂 WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

In the happy face/ W space above that bears witness to a space that I would like to otherwise use for a photo, I smile, I laugh in the face of adversity. Ha!

If you can imagine that in the photo in the happy face space above, there is either a grouping of Windmills or a rock Wall; I hadn’t decided which photo I was going to use.

The windmills sit atop the Altamont Pass in Northern California; they are wind turbines. This particular grouping look to me like soldiers scattered on a battlefield of windblown dried-golden grasses with just hints of green against a cobalt blue sky. The windmills are white.

The photo of the wall is of a black rock wall with a white gate that leads from one field to another. A giant cactus, elongated and spindly, languishes over a portion of the wall  along with scrub trees. I took this photo in Kauai several years ago, in a church yard.

I hope that WordPress soon corrects the little problem some of us are having. I will be waiting. In the meantime, be filled with the wonder and joy of the season.

  1. I will lob this to Marianne, who is suffering in Fiji with the same problems! It’s brutally slow here to upload, but it’s always brutally slow with these connections! So far I have been able to upload, and I will count my blessings that it’s working.
There seems to be a problem inserting youtube videos as well.
I loved your sense of humor!

I’m glad I brought this up, so that others would be aware. Just good to remember when having issues to check the Forum and you will usually find that there are issues. Can’t imagine anyone suffering in Fiji …..except with this kind of problem 🙂

I noticed that WP changed the interface for uploading photos. I prefer the old way.

      Hi Shimon,
WordPress changed the way photos are uploaded about a week ago, I’m not sure why they did this when the old way was working just fine. At any rate, things were good with the change until yesterday for me, when I found out last evening I could not upload any photos. It says it is loading the photo, but it is not, it just hangs there. Very frustrating.

Glad to know that it isn’t just me. I have started decreasing the image size for my uploads so that it can take less time. When it just stops, though, I give up, go away, and come back later. I wondered if WordPress has become over-burdened with uploads and their servers just can’t handle the workload.

I hadn’t thought of it from that aspect, but a very good possibility in light of the WordPress population. I thought maybe it was just a bad configuration on how they set up the new program to upload media. I never saw an explanation anywhere. But I sure am glad it’s fixed!
