Day 314; Behind Me

Last week, I posted a photo of a setting sun hitting a red brick wall

In responding to a comment, I was telling someone that the setting sun provided some great light because it is unobstructed by buildings, and I tried to describe what was behind me when I took the photo, besides the sun.  A photo is worth a thousand words they say. I went back last evening, waited for the sun to set, and shot these photos to give a better description than I ever could in words of what was behind me.

The hills are part of the Diablo Range, a part of the Pacific Coast Ranges, that are between me and San Francisco, but I don’t hold it against them.

  1. Wow…Beautiful scenery and excuse my ignorance but in the second photo are those all windmills on the hills?

🙂 Those are electricity generating wind turbines that are scattered over the hills and passes in this area of Northern California. Aren’t they beautiful?

Very beautiful!! I saw one of those this summer on my way to the beach and I thought it looked pretty amazing just sitting there out in the open field. My mind told me that it was some sort of windmill but I was not sure. Now I know excatly what they call them. Thanks!

I have such a file of photos of all the turbines around here. They fascinate me. They provide quite a bit of energy.
