Freight trains wend through the Altamont Pass between the Central California Valley and the San Francisco East Bay area. In the many times we drive between the east side of the Altamont and the Bay Area, this is the first time I’ve seen a train in the hills.
We can hear the train whistle from our house, and that always sets me to dreaming about where the goods on the train are going to end up. Loaded onto a container ship in the Port of Oakland or San Francisco? Or just heading out across the United States somewhere.

Thanks Madhu. It reminds me of a lone horse or bull standing on the hilltop.

Thanks Jo…Minimal processing done…that’s pretty much the color of the hills right now. We get no rain in summer at all.

Me too. I think I like this time of year/colors, vs spring when it’s all green.

Nice! I grew up in the boonies where we could hear the train whistles a few times a day, and it always was a little exciting to think about the commerce that was passing through!
