thirdeyemom is an incredible woman who inspires, and has currently been in D.C. speaking to our congress people about world hunger, poverty, and finding solutions. Now this is an inspiring woman.
The award requests one tell a few things about oneself, and I have in previous award acceptance posts, but there are a couple of things I’ve not mentioned about myself before that I’ll add here.
I am a nurse case manager, working in Disease Management for the indigent of an affluent county in Southern California; the disparity is mind bending. I telecommute (I used to live in Southern Cal, and am currently living in Northern California). I counsel, educate on chronic diseases, mainly diabetes, guide, and try to connect patients with what resources there are for food and shelter. I see to it that authorizations are in place for specialists visits, and that medications prescribed are being obtained and taken as prescribed. More recently, the newly eligible for this program include those who have lost jobs and insurance. Every day I wonder at how this can be going on in our great country. I give gratitude for the abundance in my life every night.
Another thing I’ve not brought up before is that I am a breast cancer survivor; and I mention this not for sympathy of any kind, but, hopefully, to inspire you. All of you. Men and women alike. Be aware of your bodies, its norms, so that you know when something is going on that needs a doctor’s visit. And don’t put off yearly physicals, and exams that should be done at the age appropriate markers. My cancer was caught early because I knew something wasn’t right, even though a doctor said I could wait another year before another mammogram. Thank God I didn’t. Don’t be afraid to disagree with your doctor!

If only more people would remember that their doctors aren’t gods – here, in places like Sri Lanka, that message is especially needed. Nice to hear more about Angeline … congratulations and bravo for introducing us to so many new faces! Now I’m rushing off to read new blogs –

Thank you Shimon. My picture of the dove was incredible to have seen at this time. Doves have a very special meaning to me, and I’ll have to write about that. Another thing I am grateful for every morning is being able to work from home. Thanks for the congratulations!
