When I lived in Queensland our neighbour was driving his tractor (in mating season) and one bit his wheel. It would not let go and was sort of funny to watch. As the wheel turned the snake just kept swinging round and round through the air.

I think this is the first time I’ve ever laughed about anything to do with s*****….Thanks Jo! I’ll keep this as a visual whenever I happen to see one on TV or movie to offset the palpitations I get.

Oh my! I had never thought of the s**** aspect of these baskets until you and another commenter brought it up. There are very few animals I have a fear of, but S***** is one of them….BIG time. If they happen to come up on a TV show I have to turn away or close my eyes.
My gravatar photo is a glass of wine taken at a beach bar in Hawaii. Lots of good feelings there š

I’m glad you like them; I think they are beautiful too. I used to have quite a collection of baskets, and like you, seem to have given them up along the way. I’ve started eyeing them again when I’m out and about on travels. It must be time to bring a few home.

I’ve used them to hold many different things over the years from left over glass stones that go in vases to hold flowers, to loose change from my husband’s pockets, and all the while presenting beautifully in the living room hiding our “treasures”.

All that and more … and very often not even on display, but a means of keeping things neat and tidy, and easily findable, in drawers and cupboards, inside boxes … š

Oh yes, when I go home, I can see a new collection beginning!

Exactly. Baskets need not all be on display, but even when serving in a functional nature, they can be beautiful to the owner who uses them in her daily rounds. Beauty in every nook and cranny.
