The husband and I took a cab ride over to the Rio Hotel here in Las Vegas, to watch some of the 2012 World Series of Poker action. My husband is an avid Texas Hold’em player, and didn’t want to miss seeing this live. I have to admit it was fascinating to watch what I usually only see on TV.
I took the following photo of Greg Raymer, Fossilman, who I’ve seen on a lot of TV poker. He has a degree in biochemistry and a law degree to boot. He’s on the left in the photo below.
Didn’t see anyone else I knew, but all interesting faces…and hands.
There’s a $60 million prize pool. It costs $10,000 to buy-in. The tournament whittles down the players to a final table of nine on July 16th,that will share in the prize pool. The play resumes at the end of October, with the winner getting the coveted “bracelet”, and several million dollars.
Love these photos! I have fallen so far off in my 365…Hope I can catch up! You are inspiring me!!!

There are great photos that reflect the atmosphere of those places. The first photo of the man with the hat and the hood is great. He looks like a modern monk.

I like these pictures. How did you manage to get a camera into the casino?

They were ok with photos here at this competition, just no flash; this was in a big seperate room from the regular casino. But, casinos do allow cameras, I’ve been told just not to take photos of the tables in the regular casino….glad you like the photos.
