All good things must come to an end. We hit the road this morning, to return home. The drive from Reno to home is about a four hour trip, and one I never tire of. The drive down the mountains is nothing but scenic no matter what time of year; snow in winter, and green in summer. The streams that parallel the highway are running with water from the snow melt, and that’s a good thing for us flat landers who use that water.
The highway out of Reno has a cutoff that will take you to Lake Tahoe, and oh how I wish we had the time to make that little side trip. There was a snowfall just a few weeks ago, so there is still snow on the higher peaks of the Sierra.
As we get closer to home there are the familiar sights of the vineyards of Lodi, a wonderful grape growing region that is a mini-Napa Valley. Excellent wines come out of this region. It’s Napa without the traffic. And then there is Mount Diablo in the background, one of the higher peaks in the East Bay of San Francisco.
And then there are the fields of home
It’s always good to get back.

We are just a “stones throw” from each other. We haven’t been to Tahoe in a while…the drive back home is easier on 80 out of Reno…way to winding on 50 out of Tahoe. Hope you feel better soon!!
