A sunny warm day just right for checking out the year round farmer’s market at Jack London Square in Oakland, California. Part of the bounty we brought home pictured above.
Jack London Square is on Oakland’s waterfront, across the bay from San Francisco, and hosts many restaurants and a hotel, but we were there for the market yesterday.
And then we start feeling happy when we realize there is more than fruit and vegetables
And don’t forget to take a rest before buying and eating more
My favorite of this market today was the watermelon radish
Until next time

Wish I were there! 😉

there is something magical about farmer’s markets – we are in the midst of our government trying to sneak through a bill during the holidays that will actually give them the power to shut these down here. It’s all being done to protect big seed growers like Monsantano,, and will make it actually illegal to sell seeds or produce or even for people like me to give them to friends…our government scares me lately with all the sneaky, sneaky bills it rushes through without consultation…

There is something magical about farmer’s markets. Maybe seeing all the beautiful produce displayed outdoors makes it seem so real; it just doesn’t have that quality in a super market, or at least most supermarkets. How sad that your govenment would shut down the farmer’s markets…hope people are fighting back!

That it the watermelon radish in the first photo at the top. First time I’ve seen these. It’s a great farmer’s market.
