The last couple of big trips I’ve taken, Puerto Vallarta and Hawaii, have both made evident the importance and wonder of the Green sea turtle. Amazing that they can migrate over 1,600 miles, and after their first couple of years out in the ocean, they seem to make their way back to the beach where they were hatched. I have to wonder if they traverse between Puerto Vallarta and the Hawaiian Islands, though that would be just a few thousand miles over their mileage plan; but Puerto Vallarta and Hawaii are on the same latitude, so, what do you think?

1.600 miles – that’s a wonder; 1.600 meter only is my daily quantum …

Thank you. They must feel so light and free in the water, and able to swim forever.

great post and photo Angeline – where I used to live in Queensland was just a short trip to Hervey Bay. Every year we had Loggerhead turtles come in to nest – it is the largest nesting site for them in the world and was amazing. really love this post.

I think it is a wonder in general how this magnificent creatures of the sea would travel great distance in the ocean and once it’s time to lay eggs would go back to the place where they were born. They say it’s an imprint causing them to remember where they originated from. Now that is both a wonder and an amazement. They are the coolest looking creatures too, graceful, gentle, fascinating. Beatiful post. Thanks for sharing. A blessed weekend to you and your love ones…

Thanks Jake. Yes, you should see how they protect the turtle eggs in “safe” places on the beach in Mexico and Hawaii, and then help them get to the water once they hatch.

Awesome creatures. I had the honour of scuba diving alongside of one of these wonders. They are so gracefull in the water. We swam about 7 or 8 feet from each other, he looked at me, and I looked at him.
