I’m a little behind with BootsnAll Indie 30, 30 Days of Indie Travel Project. So let’s get a move on.
Prompt #4: Mistakes. Discussing your worst travel mistake.
I’ve had to mull this over for a couple of days. The words travel and mistake, together in the same sentence, hurt my soul. Travel should be joyous, full of adventure, fun. How could there be a mistake? There are things that come to mind, like getting on the wrong train or plane because you weren’t paying attention. Showing up at the wrong hotel, or making reservations for the wrong hotel (we’ve actually done that one, Harrah’s Reno when we thought it was for Harrah’s Lake Tahoe).
I think that my biggest mistake has always been to pack too many clothes, even when I say I’m not going to do that ever again. I’m always sweating it at the airport thinking my suitcase will be over the weight limit. Maybe that’s why I prefer to travel by car.
I get to test my resolve once again in a few weeks. We leave for Kauai the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In a few weeks it’ll be me and the suitcase in the bedroom, mano a mano.
I’ll keep you posted.
We share something in common, I pack to much clothes too. Oh well, we are not perfect right? God bless you and your family always…

It seems to be a human failing 🙂 Blessings are returned to you and yours too.

If you’re going to a low-cost country you can always buy whatever you may need… That way you also support the local businesses.

I always try to pack as little as possible but somehow the luggage, in ways unknown to mankind, gains a lot of mystery-weight…

So true. I arrive at my destination and don’t understand how all that stuff ended up in my suitcase.

Haha, I know what it’s like to stand there at the airline counter line, praying that the luggage doesn’t go beyond the weight allowance. 😉

I always pack too much too… then I regret it. 😆

After each trip I tell myself “learn!”. I always end up wearing two or three things, and the other mountain of clothes sits untouched.

I look at that scale jumping to a number when the suitcase is placed on the scale, and then feel like yellling out “YES” and pumping my fist in the air when it’s not at the limit!!
