We’ll be driving down to Orange County, CA in three weeks. It is a homecoming of sorts. We’re not originally from there, but it was our home for five short years, five years ago. We call those years our years of wine and roses. We loved it, and we were back together again after a two year separation.
We started out our life in the OC in a small one bedroom apartment, one bathroom, and one small walk-in closet. We joked that if someone bought a pair of shoes, one pair had to be given away so that the closet wouldn’t explode.
We developed a core group of friends in our same age group and we partied a lot; when we moved from the apartment to a condo, with a little patio perfect for barbecues, we were home base for the group. We were party central. We had some crazy good times.
On weekends my husband and I spent a lot of time driving down the Pacific Coast Highway and enjoying the beauty of the SoCal coastline. Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach. We also took off on long weekends to nearby places, Palm Springs, Temecula Casino Resort, San Diego, Del Mar, and rarely LA.
It was the good life, and I can’t wait to go back.
