I’ve been wandering around the house looking for anything that isn’t useful or needed. I’m trying to be proactive for a move that will be happening sometime within the year. We moved to this place ten months ago and cleaned everything out prior to the move, or so I thought. I just took four large plastic bags with clothes and “stuff” to Goodwill last weekend. Where the heck does it all come from? How can we accumulate so much “stuff” so quickly?
After cleaning up the kitchen tonight, I did a quick sweep of cupboards looking for anything that can be tossed……and there was my beloved chicken, right next to the corkscrew and bottle stoppers.
My lovely little chicken has been with me since about 1998, a gag gift from a co-worker. The chicken first resided on my desk, but after moving on to a new job, I brought chicken little home and threw her into a kitchen drawer. With each move over the years she is wrapped as carefully as my finest cazuelas and transferred in to a kitchen drawer of the new house; much like the statue of the Virgen Mary, aka Our Lady of The Garage (mentioned in a previous post).
Little chicken is as much a part of the family as our kids; she travels well and isn’t demanding at all.
