Nothing is so wonderful, causing chills up and down, as booking a trip and starting to plan for what you will see, what you will do, what you will eat.
Last year we went to Puerto Vallarta and we had not been there since our honeymoon in 1969! I ordered books from AAA on Mexico and a couple from Amazon. I created contacts and ultimately friends on Twitter, found places I wanted to re-visit after all these years, and restaurants I wanted to try. It was one of the best vacations we have ever had. I think that the planning stage pre-trip was just as much fun as the trip itself.
This year we are off to Hawaii. We’ve been to the different islands multiple times. I just booked the trip online a couple of days ago and am starting to ramp up on Twitter and Facebook; I’m reading articles I find online, one tonight being on restaurants a chef that was interviewed says are on his list of go to places.
I always take a fabulous book to read and have one picked out that has been sitting on my bookshelf for over a year…The Happy Isles of Oceania by Paul Theroux. What could be better? Pure bliss.
And even though I’ve been to Hawaii so many times, I will start some online research on Princess Kaiulani since we are staying at the Sheraton Princess Kailuani Hotel. The history of Hawaii is intriguing to me and I have to wonder if I lived there in another life.
