The rain came and went throughout the day, as did the change in scenery unfolding in front of my hotel room window.
The clouds rolled over the mountain and pulled back again
Gently, and then roaring back down like an avalanche
Streaming up and over and down through the trees
I could almost hear that silence, that silence mixed with the wind as it blew through the trees. I imagined myself standing out there alone, exhilarated by the cold, and this fury of air and clouds and rain.
The storm was spent, the clouds encircling the mountaintop to make amends
The clouds exalting in their glory

Fabulous photos and commentary

I am so glad you like it. Thanks!
‘Majestic’ is the first word that came to my mind when i saw that first picture. What a view. Thanks for letting us peek over your shoulder, Angeline.
Thank you tita buds. Always a pleasure to share.
Love these – very atmospheric. I remember a huge storm a few years ago in Turkey and the sky turned yellow, was pretty amazing!
Thank you! It was definitely better than an afternoon of watching a movie or TV.
Each one conjures mystery and even foreboding. They remind me of the Hudson Valley School of Painting, which is a very good thing.
Thanks! I’ll have to go research Hudson Valley School of Painting…..oh my! I just took a peek on Google, really thank you.
Wow. It’s visual poetry!
Thanks so much!
Marvelous shots Angeline! The light is so ethereal.
Thanks Madhu; I can’t remember what ISO setting I was using, but these photos are all straight out of the camera, no editing.
What awesome pictures! You have a great talent Angeline!
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your kind words, they give me motivation to continue learning and growing in this passion for photography that I’ve developed.
Glad to help! Have a great day! http://www.segmation.wordpress.com
Truly beautiful captures. How nice it would be to look out a window and see that view every day, every season.
Thanks John. I would have a hard time getting any work done if I had this view all of the time
These are just spectacular Angeline! Where were these taken?
Thanks Nicole! Reno, Nevada. It’s up in the Sierras; a little non-descript town that has a few casinos that beckon most people that go there. But for me, it’s the surrounding beauty of nature that lures me back.
I adore this light and your description
I was about to ask where this was, but I saw your tag
Beautiful post, Angeline!!!
Thanks Paula. See my reply to Nicole for a little bit more about Reno.
Wow! The place looks magical!
Thanks! The country up in the Sierras is indeed magical.
