365, Day 4; The Princess Arrives

The Kauai Marriott Resort is on Kalapaki Beach that is nestled within Nawiliwili Harbor. We arrived here last Saturday, and I knew a ship had to be coming in sooner or later. I searched the port’s arrivals schedule and found that a Princess cruise was scheduled to arrive this morning.

I’ve never been on a cruise, and don’t care to ever go on one, but I find these ships so majestic. I particularly like this shot with the little tug boat guiding the Princess safely in to this very small harbor.

I used to feel the same way…until I went on one. And loved it. I wouldn’t do it for every trip, but for some, it’s just perfect, as in the cruise we just took up the western coast of Norway, stopping at picturesque towns you would have a hard time getting to over land, sailing through majestic fjords, cruising along next to a “viking” ship, joining a birdwatching expedition to the Stappen islands, seeing a seafaring country the way it should be seen…from the sea. And one of the best parts of a cruise—spending time with friendly people, other passengers, from all over the world. You can’t help but meet a lot of great people on these cruises. It was a Princess cruise, by the way.

I like the idea of getting on the ship, traveling to different places, and not having to pack/unpack; and sailing through fjords does sound quite beautiful. I really shouldn’t knock something if I haven’t tried it.

The not having to pack/unpack thing is priceless. I can also recommend a cruise through the Greek isles. We went to Rhodes, Santorini and Mykonos plus a few other places. Just got off the ship, wandered around the wonderful little towns and had a great time. Cruises can be the absolute best way to get there when you want to explore several islands, and the price can be amazingly cheap if you wait till they are selling their unsold cabins.

You’re really pulling me in. The Greek Isles are my dream.

I beg Your pardon, but I have to make a comment once more.

Cruise ships are huge, indeed. I guess that You know that we made here in Finland

Allure of the Seas – world’s biggest cruise ship

Take a look at it just before it left from Finland to the States. Photos are unique. I maybe the only one who has photos from his own car and Allure of the Seas in the same photo. :)

    Happy bogging.

Wow, that is a photo that definitely shows how big these ships are. Thanks for sharing the photo! I just took more photos today of a NCL cruise ship as it was leaving the port of Nawiliwili in Kauai.

You said: “I’ve never been on a cruise, and don’t care to ever go on one”.

Well, did You know that there are different typed of cruises? For example in Finland where we have thousand of lakes, we are cruising on our lakes onboard of steam ships which are more than 100 years old.

    Last summer we made a

    Midsummer cruise

It was a great pleasure! Happy Thursday!
