Now that the weather is finally warming up and there are sunny days, I try to go out for a fifteen or twenty minute walk before I eat lunch. I work from home, but abide by a one hour lunchtime so that I can get all my work done and put in my required eight-hour day.
It was a beautiful day today, abundant sunshine and just the hint of a breeze. I was nearing a little community park in the neighborhood, looking at the kids on the swings, the moms gossiping and texting, when I got a whiff of something good. Really very good.
What? Someone was cooking? At noon? The smell only got better as I went down the block. Wow. I just can’t imagine having breakfast and then just a few hours later dragging out the pots and pans and cooking lunch, and then in another few hours doing it all over again for dinner.
As I’ve said in a previous post, I have to be in the mood to cook, and thank the Universe for my wonderful husband who whips up some pretty great dinners every night. I tend to either make a quick salad or warm up leftovers for my lunch. But this wonderful smell was making me wonder about my being lazy. Maybe I should take a shorter noontime walk and do some actual cooking.
As I came into our house that was devoid of the wonderful smell of cooking food I quickly came to my senses.
Too many good leftovers to be warmed up.
