This picture has always fascinated me. Painted by a dear friend, Jo Ann Brown-Scott, and titled Moroccan Door II.
I have a fascination with doors and it amazes me that Jo would have given this to me not knowing about my “thing” for doors.
We used to have a print of several old doors that were photographed and placed side by side in the print; we gave that away somewhere along the line in one of our moves. I wish we had kept it.
What I always wonder when looking at this painting, or any others of doors, is what might be on the other side. I have two scenarios, the first one is throwing open the door to a Spanish style courtyard with lush green plants in pottery around the perimeter and around a brown terracotta fountain in the middle. The second scenario is throwing open the door to a beach with white sand and the ocean beyond that is an azure blue.
Sitting in front of this painting is a wonderful place to meditate.
