People in California’s central valley are starting to be prosecuted for stripping their homes once they go in to foreclosure and walk away. I have heard stories about this from day one, people taking anything not bolted down and taking what’s bolted down as well.
Walking away from your home is a loss and one starts to go through the stages of grief; anger is one of the stages. Is it anger that makes people do this, or greed? Maybe a little of both. Whoever goes in to the house we walked away from will be surprised. It’s clean and I even left extra under counter light sticks that we had left over. I went through my anger phase, but I also loved the beauty of the house too much to ruin it. I loved the house for the comfort and protection it afforded us and want nothing more than that some other lucky family will have that too.
