Foreclosure, Day 137; When The Cows Come Home

My first post sitting out in the patio, the wind is light and the temperature just right. The new area we live in can get quite windy, haven’t figured out why just yet, but it doesn’t matter. The community we live in now is off a main thoroughfare and down a country road; there are open fields to the west bordered by hills that are golden brown now from the sun, and there are cows grazing all around. The big news this morning was a cow breakout. A fence was down somewhere along the line and a herd of cows escaped; they were finally herded back into the pasture and all was well. I love that this is big news and not a shooting or a stabbing or a kidnapping.  And just over those hills is the San Francisco East Bay and then the Bay Area itself. Couldn’t be better.

But there is news.  News online about foreclosures leads one to believe that some people just don’t learn. L.A. and Orange County are cracking down on continuing fraud in mortgages with some lenders falsifying documents to help people get  homes that they don’t qualify for. This is absolutely crazy.

Then there is the news that there is a high default rate for modified mortgages. Where I must take umbrage is with a statement in the article that says most people who get modified mortgages will fail AGAIN; article states these people have already defaulted once. WELL OF COURSE THEY DID….. YOU IDIOTS! You can’t get help through the HAMP program unless you are at least 90 days behind in your mortgage payments = default!  Banks will not help you if you are making your payments….why would they?

I like our news about cow escapes better.
